We met our dear friend André

André holds 2 MidsummerSail records from 2022, for the fastest multihull and smallest crew sailing single handed. The regatta starts at the south-eastern point in the Baltic sea the town Wismar in Germany and ends at the northernmost point of the Baltic sea at Töre in Sweden. In total 900 nautical miles (1670 km). Respect for every sailor who attends this regatta, especially as André completed the route single handed. We live here on the Baltic coast and one thing I can state, be prepared for super unstable wind and weather… from beautiful sunny romantic sail one minute to barely seeing your bowsprit the next. Anyway, very nice place for sailing.

How did we meet André… I actually read about him first on the smalltrimarandesign.com website. He built a carbon fiber mast for his trimaran, designed by Michael (Mike) Waters a boat designer who owns the website. It is a rotating carbon mast... what better can you get for your multihull. One day on the website the info appeared, that the guy who built the carbon mast and won the MidsummerSail will attend the 2025 Düsseldorf boat show. No doubt, I have to be there and I have to ask him lots of questions. And that was the first time we met André in person.

Unfortunately, because of obvious reasons, he couldn’t bring his trimaran to the Düsseldorf boat show. After a very nice chat full of information, we said goodbye in the hopes to meet this summer somewhere on the water and to check out the winner trimaran packed with lots of features. The starting point of the MidsummerSail was the best place to meet André with his modified FLANEUR, Farrier F82R. As I mentioned already, his trimaran has a carbon mast and new amas with C foils. André designed and built the C foils by himself. Before the regatta I called him, if he would find time before the race to meet up. We agreed on the day just before the race starts, less stress and more time to talk about the boat. What a beautiful day... We met up in the small harbour in the town Boltenhagen close by Wismar. Immediately as we came, we saw the harbour packed with boats flying the MidsummerSail flag. We spent few hours talking with André about his trimaran, boats and boat building in general.

I must say, it was a really nice day. Thanks André for your time and we hope we see you again soon.

PS: We know, the MidsummerSail was in June, but we are a bit behind updating our website as you might have noticed. So anyway, since the MidSummerSail André actually added another amazing achievement to his list. André attended the Silverrudder in September 2025. The regatta is single-handed only and journeys around the Danish Island of Funen, starting and finishing in Svendborg. With no mandatory navigational marks the shortest distance is 134 nautical miles.
André won the category Multihulls Small.

Congratulation André!!
